Which St. Augustine restaurants did the Michelin Guide actually mention?
As of the 2026 MICHELIN Guide Florida, St. Augustine has four mentioned restaurants and zero Michelin stars. Bar Citra and Sunday hold Bib Gourmand (good food, good value). Asado Life and Lotus Noodle Bar are Recommended. Nearby Jacksonville-area rooms were also listed; they are a drive, not a St. Johns street.

When Michelin expanded its Florida guide into Northeast Florida in 2026, local headlines did what headlines do. Relocators heard “Michelin” and pictured a star. The inspectors did not give St. Augustine one. What they did, according to the official Saint Augustine list on guide.michelin.com, was put four restaurants on the map: two Bib Gourmand and two Recommended. Bib Gourmand is Michelin’s phrase for good-quality cooking at a good value — not a star. Recommended means inspectors wanted the room on the list. Selected, in Michelin’s wider vocabulary, is a lighter mention than Recommended; these four sit above that floor. Check the live guide before you brag at a dinner party. Lists move.
Sunday, at 73 San Marco Avenue, is the breakfast-and-lunch room on a walkable block north of the densest visitor core. The Michelin entry (the guide uses the name Sunday) calls out sourdough, a BALT, and an unpretentious daytime pace. Relocators should treat it as a weekend plan, not a secret. Parking is neighborhood-street parking; you are not in a garage under a hotel. If you have out-of-town parents who eat early, this is the easy first booking. It is not a 9 p.m. steakhouse.
Bar Citra sits farther north, at Citra at Fort Mose, 3676 North Ponce de Leon Boulevard — a coffee-shop-plus-wine-bar-plus-kitchen that Michelin also marked Bib Gourmand. The official notes mention shared plates, Roman-style pizza on rotation, and a vintage-feeling room. You are not on St. George Street. That is the relocator point: you can use it on a weekday without a trolley soundtrack, but you should still expect it to be known now. Hours on the guide page have leaned daytime; confirm before you invent a late dinner.
Lotus Noodle Bar, 56 Grove Avenue, is Recommended, not starred, and the guide files it as ramen. Chef Barry Honan’s brick-and-mortar (the Michelin note dates the permanent room to 2023 after pop-ups) is the “we have a sitter” noodle night more than a tourist-core steak. Grove Avenue is a small-lot, find-a-spot neighborhood. Budget time to park and do not assume a host stand will hold a party of eight. If spice and a counter seat sound like your household, this is the mention that will actually get used.
Asado Life, 173 Asado Way on the San Sebastian, is the other Recommended room — a larger, water-facing Argentine-grill evening from Nick and Christie Carrera, per Michelin’s write-up. Meat is the point. The guide itself says the approach can be slightly confusing and to follow signs. That is useful visitor advice and useful relocator advice: this is a destination parking-lot meal, closer to a planned Saturday than a walk-over from a downtown B&B. Reservations matter more here than at a village taco counter. It is still not a Michelin star, and we will not dress it up as one.
The Times-Union, on July 31, 2026, put the Northeast Florida expansion at eight restaurants total. The other Recommended names in that roundup — Eggboy, Rue Saint-Marc, The Bearded Pig, and Salt — are Jacksonville, Atlantic Beach, and Amelia Island stories. They matter if your job already points you north. They are not a reason to tell friends that “St. Johns has eight Michelin restaurants.” Four mentioned rooms in St. Augustine is the accurate local count from the city list we checked.
Why this matters if you are moving: the county’s everyday restaurant life is still village pizza and a beach-town wait. The Michelin mentions are a short, specific overlay — two daytime/value rooms and two Planned Evening rooms — that give guests a better Saturday than a generic “historic district” search. Book ahead when you care. Walk in when you do not. For the Wednesday map, use the resident restaurant note. If you want a second opinion on whether a particular room matches the people you are bringing, ask. We will not invent a star.
